Ramadan Media Preview & CSR Event at Fraser Place Puteri Harbour

The holy month of Ramadan is a time for reflection, prayer, and community. It is also a time for families and friends to gather and break their fast with delicious food. In preparation for the month of Ramadan, Fraser Place Puteri Harbour hosted a media preview and CSR event at Swatches to showcase their Ramadan buffet.

Attendees were treated to a taste of the food that will be available at Fraser Place Puteri Harbour’s Ramadan buffet. The menu featured popular Malay dishes such as Sate Ayam & Daging, Pucuk Paku Gulai Keledek, Ketupat & Lemang, as well as Kambing & Ayam Golek. The dishes were delicious and reflected the flavors of traditional Malay cuisine. Malaysians’ favourite fruit, Durian, was also available!

In addition to showcasing their menu, Fraser Place Puteri Harbour also organized a CSR event during the media preview. While we won’t go into detail about the CSR initiative, it was heartening to see a hotel take a proactive approach to giving back to the community.

The event was held at Swatches, which is located on the ground floor of Fraser Place Puteri Harbour. The restaurant’s cozy atmosphere provided a comfortable setting for attendees to mingle and network while enjoying the food.

Overall, the Ramadan Buffet Media Preview & CSR Event at Fraser Place Puteri Harbour was a success. The hotel’s commitment to providing delicious food and giving back to the community was evident throughout the event. We look forward to seeing what else Fraser Place Puteri Harbour has in store for Ramadan.

Normal price for the buffet is RM158 per adult, and RM88 per 6-12 years old child / senior citizen from 60 years and above (subject to 6% SST).

Food Review: Le Grandeur Palm Resort Johor

If you have read our previous blog post, you would have known that we were reviewing about our stay in Le Grandeur Palm Resort Johor . In this blog post, we are going to review the various food that we experienced at Le Grandeur Palm Resort Johor from breakfast to dinner!

Our first dining experience at Le Grandeur Palm Resort Johor was having dinner at The Grill at Cocomo. Located near the lobby, this open kitchen concept restaurant is a must-go to satisfy your western food crave. You can check out the above Instagram post for pictures of our food (and also the live cooking team)!

We have also uploaded a live video, as above, for you to have a feel of dining with your family at The Grill at Cocomo. Luckily our main course have arrived when the live video was recorded! As parents of an active toddler, we may say that it is quite a challenge to wait for food in an open kitchen concept restaurant, very stimulating for the inquisitive minds (our toddler was literally running around the area for as far as he can run). But we didn’t mind, as the food were perfect to fuel our almost-empty energy, especially the medium rare steak that Yusof had!

We had our breakfast at Ishwara Asian Brasserie & Terrace a bit late the next morning, due to our toddler refused to sleep the night before (excuses, excuses). Check out the above live video to know what they serve for breakfast, how the breakfast area looks like, and the timing they serve the breakfast!

After breakfast, we went for a lengthy swimming pool play and then fuel up our tummy at the Fusion Restaurant in Le Grandeur Palm Resort Johor. We must say, it’s one of the best Japanese food we’ve tasted so far! Play the above live video to have a look around the restaurant and know what we ordered for lunch.

JenjalanKami in front of Fusion restaurant
Calm ambience inside Fusion Restaurant
Fusion Restaurant’s special menu on Saturdays: Chicken Porridge
The Chicken Porridge was tasty and approved by our toddler!
Shafa’s favourite: Sake Sashimi (Salmon)!
Unagi Maki (Rice Roll with Eel and Seaweed)
Yusof’s favourite: Tori Karage (Deep-fried Boneless Chicken)
Sake Sushi (Salmon)

The above are the pictures around the restaurant and the dishes that we tried. Our thoughts? Best Japanese dishes we’ve tasted so far! Not to mention the staff and restaurant manager were super friendly!

Dinner hours at Ishwara Asian Brasserie & Terrace

Later that night we went to Ishwara Asian Brasserie & Terrace again for a buffet steamboat. The dinner is served from 6.30pm to 10.30pm. Watch below live video for the look and feel during the dinner!

We were happy to be spoiled with many choices of food! Below are some food that were available during the buffet steamboat dinner.

We thought the next day will a bit more relaxed as we didn’t have food reviews in our original plan, since it was our check out day. But then Fusion Restaurant Manager invited us for yet another lunch to try their Teppanyaki!

Introduction & some starting actions by Chef Izam

As most of you would have known, the best part of Teppanyaki is to watch the Chef’s live cooking in preparing your food from scratch, with amazing actions! We were really looking forward into it, but we also know how active our toddler is. Thus, upon check out, Yusof was the one who took the videos & pictures of Teppanyaki from start, and Shafa came halfway through when one of the meals were ready (because at least our toddler won’t have to wait for the food and more time can be spent at the table instead of chasing him around). So Shafa basically missed the above introduction by Chef Izam.

Chef Izam in action

Too bad Shafa missed most of the actions performed by Chef Izam, such as the one shown in above video. But she’s still lucky to catch some actions, though. Watch below live video that Shafa manage to take when she arrived!

We even manage to interview Chef Izam once he’s done preparing our dishes. He is such a friendly person, indeed!

Chef Izam explaining about the ingredients
Chef Izam explaining about the Teppanyaki set

And that wraps up our food review of restaurants in Le Grandeur Palm Resort Johor. We must say it was a really great experience!

Note: The visit was before the COVID-19 virus takes in. As parents of a toddler who are also living with an elderly, we do advise you to adhere to the government rules and guidelines by the Health Ministry. As a travel and food advocate, we definitely will help you to dream and plan for your next travel by feeding you with our travel and food write ups. Stay safe and be positive!

Food Review: Durian Dessert Platter At Dondang Sayang Coffee House, Corus Hotel Kuala Lumpur

We are so excited during the visit, and at the time of writing this, as we are HUGE durian fans! Seriously, we are the ones who you would see coming to durian stalls during durian season, and the ones who would always voluntarily accompany Shafa’s brothers for a durian feast whenever they’re back in Malaysia.

And so, when Corus Hotel Kuala Lumpur invited us for a review of their Durian Dessert Platter as part of their ‘Durian365@Corus’ promotion, we are more than happy to do so! What’s best about this promotion is that not only Corus Hotel has whole durians to serve in its durian room (yes, they have a room specially for that), the hotel also has durian desserts – all these are served permanently for 365 days a year (yup, that’s every single day of the year).

The Durian Dessert Platter is served at Dondang Sayang Coffee House in Corus Hotel Kuala Lumpur daily from 12noon to 9pm. It consists of eight durian-inspired desserts and accompanied by coffee or tea, and priced at RM78 nett for two. Not bad for a durian date, isn’t it? Now, let us spill about the details of each dessert.

1. Durian Crepe

Behold Shafa’s favourite durian dessert since university years – the Durian Crepe! This dessert comes in the form of fluffy buttermilk pancakes and of course with the awesomeness taste of durian. Adding up to your sweet tooth crave is the dusted powdered sugar on top – totally makes you ask for second serving!

2. Durian BB Signature Mousse Cake

If you think mousse cake is the best dessert on earth, then you should try this Durian BB Signature Mousse Cake at Dondang Sayang Coffee House in Corus Hotel Kuala Lumpur. It’s super light and made fresh daily – the perfect dessert after a day’s stress at work!

3. Rabbit Coconut Durian Mousse

This Rabbit Coconut Durian Mousse is Shafa’s favourite in terms of looks (HUGE animal lover)! The taste is also promising – with creamy coconut and durian being the most dominant flavours. A must for coconut lovers!

4. San Sebastian Durian Burnt Cheese Cake

It’s a good thing we didn’t bring our toddler for the food review, otherwise he could’ve finish this San Sebastian Durian Burnt Cheese Cake by himself! This flourless cheese cake will satisfy your dairy cravings and melt in your mouth. Totally lovable by kids and adults!

5. Durian Macaron

Any macaron lovers here? You should try this Durian Macaron at Dondang Sayang Coffee House in Corus Hotel Kuala Lumpur. This sweet French dessert is burst with durian flavours – a perfect complement to the freshly brewed coffee that comes with the dessert. A taste you can’t say no to!

6. Durian Tiramisu

This Durian Tiramisu is a heavenly mix of flavours – durian and tiramisu combined! Who wouldn’t love having a dessert with mascarpone cheese, ladyfingers dipped in espresso and whipped cream as ingredients? Showered with cocoa powder on top, probably the best thing you could ever wish for during your birthday!

7. Durian Matcha Cake Roll

Speaking of birthday, guess what did Shafa received from the hotel for her birthday? You guessed right – the Durian Matcha Cake Roll! It just so happen that Shafa LOVES matcha and a huge fan of durian – she was definitely very excited! This flavourful mix gives you the aroma of matcha, with a tasty creamy durian inside. Just add a candle on top should do the trick for an unforgettable mini birthday cake, like the one you’ll see in below video. 😉

It is very thoughtful, indeed. Thank you Corus Hotel Kuala Lumpur team, for making a working day birthday feels awesome!

8. Durian Tart With Italian Meringue

This Durian Tart With Italian Meringue is THE dessert for sweet tooth people! The sugar-crusted tart is filled with durian puree and topped with Italian Meringue that will instantly make you feel dreamy after the first bite. Try it yourself!

Bonus: Durian-flavoured Ice Cream

Just the perfect dessert for Malaysian weather! This Durian-flavoured Ice Cream will add delight to all guests who come by for desserts that will cool them down after walking on a hot, sunny day.

Served in ice cream cones, they are sure to bring back sweet childhood memories!

And if you need some cute backdrop for your OOTD, they’re available, too 😉

Bonus: The Durian Room

Not only you will NOT FIND the “no durian” signs in Corus Hotel Kuala Lumpur, they even have their own Durian Room for the purpose of, well, eating durians!

We were briefed my Mrs. Azlinda Mohd, the Senior Marketing Manager at Corus Hotel Kuala Lumpur, on the types of durians available here, as well as how they will be served.

The Durian Room at Corus Hotel Kuala Lumpur draws inspiration from the more common cigar and wine tasting rooms.

It houses a permanent and fresh serving of three of the country’s most in demand durian varieties, which are the Musang King, D24 and XO.

The exclusive space will allow locals and tourists to enjoy fresh helpings of these durian varieties whenever they are staying or dining at the Hotel.

And this, ladies and gentlemen, is the face of a happy guest 😊

What’s your thoughts on the Durian Dessert Platter, Durian-flavoured Ice Cream and The Durian Room at Corus Hotel Kuala Lumpur? We would love to hear from you!

Resort And Food Review: DoubleTree Resort By Hilton Penang (Part 2 – Breakfast And Dinner At Makan Kitchen)

Here comes Part 2 of our review on DoubleTree Resort By Hilton Penang. As promised, we will now share our experience having breakfast & dinner at Makan Kitchen.

We were very delighted to find the view of our breakfast during our second day staying at the resort. Located just beside the swimming pool, the resort really makes your breakfast a good start! Watch below video, recorded live on Facebook on our breakfast environment that morning.

Every family traveller loves child-friendly restaurants – and that’s exactly our first impression of Makan Kitchen at DoubleTree Resort By Hilton Penang! Their high chair was very comfy. Our toddler seemed to love seating in there for quite a stretch of time, with a great view of the outdoors!

Their children dining set was also super cute. Our toddler can’t help but talking about the animal images!

They have friendly & considerate staff, too. As you can see in the picture, Shafa was babywearing our toddler. It’s part of our strategy for Shafa to babywear our toddler while Yusof take the food for everyone, so that our toddler won’t be running around and go straight to the swimming pool.

Surprisingly while Shafa was babywearing our toddler, the staff approached her and asked whether she would like to have any drink. And below picture was the beverage she took for Shafa. That gesture was just too sweet, thank you!

Makan Kitchen at DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Penang really has one of the most amazing choices of breakfast buffet. Here’s what we thought!

They have wide ranges of breads, cakes, fruits and muffins (surprisingly, our son’s favourite was their fruit cake).

We love the fact that they have quite a range of pastries available, especially Yusof’s favourite chocolate crossaints!

There’s a wide choice of Malaysian food as well. Shafa’s mom & Yusof chose the Nasi Lemak with Sambal Ikan Bilis, Rendang Ayam & Omelette.

Of course, the first thing Shafa will have at any breakfast buffet is their cereals, it has been her favourite breakfast since she was a kid. Oh boy, you should’ve seen the excitement on her face when she saw the ranges of cereals available – even the rare ones such as the Fruit Loop and All Bran!

Egg lover? You can request Omelette, Over Easy, Sunny Side Up, Poach Egg, Half Boil & Hard Boil at their Egg Counter.

Noodles & Roti Canai are available too! Now that’s a complete Malaysian food.

And now we move on to our dinner experience here. Watch the above video, recorded live on Facebook, for a brief explanation about Sharing Is Caring promotion at Makan Kitchen in DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Penang. They were big portions, truly meant to be shared!

Sharing Is Caring promotion offers a sharing portion of the Malaysian Favourites menu. And for that, we chose:
1. Laksa Penang

2. Indian Butter Chicken

3. Hainanese Chicken Rice

4. Rendang Tulang Rusuk

Truly 1 Malaysia food! And they all tasted lovely! As you can see, each of us had our own dish, including our toddler (his was the chicken rice). And guess what? Our toddler ate most of his portion (and that’s BIG portion)! Now that should give you an idea on the level of tastiness.

What’s your thoughts on the food for breakfast and dinner here? Would love to hear from you!

Stay tuned to the Part 3 of the resort review – which we will cover the Kids Club, famous attraction and swimming pools!

Food Review: Mid-Autumn Mooncake Festival At Ming Palace Restaurant, Corus Hotel Kuala Lumpur

JenjalanKami was honored to be invited to attend the media preview of the Mid-Autumn Mooncake Festival at Ming Palace Restaurant, Corus Hotel Kuala Lumpur. It was great to have a some taste about the various mooncakes available to celebrate this once-a-year festival, which is commonly called either Lantern Festival or Mooncake Festival.

We were first briefed by the hotel team about the varities of flavours that they have to offer. Flavours ranges from Red Bean, Low Sugar White Lotus, Low Sugar White Lotus Single Yolk, Mixed Nuts, Matcha Tiramisu, Tropical Emerald, Pandan Lotus Single Yolk, Snow Skin D24 Durian, and the Best-Seller of all time – the Snow Skin Musang King, a soft snowy skin exterior texture with its smooth, unique lotus seed filling encased with focused Musang King paste. Such a colourful varieties, indeed!

Our favourite? Well, we brought some samples home, and our toddler can’t stop eating the Red Bean. Kids don’t lie!

We especially love the designs of the boxes that encases the mooncakes. It highlights the auspicious spirit of the festival, and comes with an option of either a box of one or a box of four.

For this festive, Corus is introducing two new additional flavours, the Blue Danube and Luminare. The Blue Danube has a fruity taste of the blueberry and yam, while the Luminare mixes the taste of the white lotus with mashed salted egg yolk. Looking for an exclusive packaging as a gift for friends? This box of drawers is perfect for that!

Corus also include two additional flavours in conjunction to a collaboration with DurianBB. The two flavours are DurianBB Crystal Mooncake, a crystal clear jelly like substance with a rich durian filling and DurianBB Snowy Mooncake, a soft white exterior texture which has a rich creamy concentrated durian filling.

You will also get a special DurianBB mooncake encase packages that are prepared for any purchases of the DurianBB mooncake sets. The packaging is cute and acts as heat shield, also comes with an ice pack! Now, isn’t that too cool?

The mooncakes are available until 13th September 2019 and are sold from RM27 nett per piece or from RM108 nett per box of four pieces.

There is also a delivery service for a minimum of 20 boxes and above. You will get a complimentary delivery to one destination within 20km radius! For less than 20 boxes, delivery charges are applicable. Charges per destination are RM60 within Kuala Lumpur and RM100 within Petaling Jaya.

Many thanks to Corus Hotel for the wonderful experience!

Food Review: Garden Terrace, Swiss-Inn Sungai Petani

JenjalanKami is excited to share our next food review on lunch menu at Garden Terrace in Swiss-Inn Sungai Petani, located in Kedah!

If you have been following this blog closely, you would have known that we have previously reviewed another cafe in Sungai Petani for their Ayam Gebuk Lunch Set. So, what makes Garden Terrace different? Read on to find out!

1. Be prepared for the ‘tower’ of Ais Kacang

Seriously, it’s a tower! We struggled to finish this, even with a family of 3 adults & 1 child (OK maybe because the adults are small eaters, and the child was sleeping).

Our toddler was in his own sweet dreams, so it was up to us to finish the Ais Kacang! Luckily it tasted so good, even Shafa’s mom was really excited digging in (watch below video)!

Thank you, Ibu! And we’re really glad you enjoyed it.

2. Perfectly breaded Fish & Chip

Well, don’t ask who ordered this. Shafa is THE fish fan in the family, so it’s definitely hers. She’s trying to make our toddler a fish fan too.

Unfortunately, our toddler fell asleep, which left Shafa alone to finish those BIG breaded fillets of fish… And she happily ate them. It was served with french fries, creamy coleslaw and tartar sauce. Delicious!

3. Crunchy Chicken Chop

Shafa’s mom ordered Chicken Chop. It was really crunchy! This is actually the chef’s specialty, and served with french fries and vegetables. You can choose to have it with either mushroom sauce or black pepper sauce. She wasn’t really a chicken fan, but the fact that she’s eating a big portion of it was a good sign!

4. Creamy Cream Of Mushroom

We ordered the Cream Of Mushroom for our toddler, but we ended up finishing them ourselves as he fell asleep. The soup was creamy, and served with garlic bread. You can never go wrong ordering this for your toddler anywhere!

5. Choices of pasta selections

Pasta lovers, worry not. For Garden Terrace got you covered! They offered spaghetti with a selection of aglio olio, napolitana or spaghetti bolognaise (Yusof’s choice). He ate them without talking much, to the very last bite. Must be pretty impressive!

6. From healthy drinks to the sugary ones

As much as we would love to promote the healthy drinks, we were guilty as charged to order the sugary ones! Our choices of Cold Tea and Cold Coffee were perfect to quench our thirst.

Of course, they also have a wide variety of beverages from hot and cold drinks to freshly squeezed juices, carbonated drinks, milk shakes and healthy drinks! By healthy drinks, we mean Pegaga Juice, Cucumber Juice and Tomato Juice. Awesome, right?

So, what do you think of all the food & beverages here at Garden Terrace in Swiss-Inn Sungai Petani? We’d love to hear your thoughts!

Food Review: Reef Cafe at D’Wharf Hotel & Residence

JenjalanKami is so thrilled to be given the opportunity to experience stay at D’Wharf Hotel & Residence, located in Port Dickson. Full review of the hotel will be out soon.

In this particular blog post, we would like to highlight the various dishes available at Reef Cafe. This cafe is located at the Ground floor of the hotel.

They offer varieties of appetizers, but we did not try any of them. However, we did try Cream Of Mushroom Soup – it was delicious!

The Cream Of Mushroom Soup comes together with garlic bread. We originally ordered this for our toddler. He loved the soup!

This soup is available for RM8.90.

Small eaters? Worry not – they offer Bite’s Selections specially for those that just want to have some bites at the restaurant. You can also choose to eat pasta if you love Italian food!

And if you’re like Shafa’s mom, rice is a must! We tried the Reef’s Nasi Lemak, and it tasted not bad.

The nasi lemak is served with sambal, anchovies, chicken rendang (our favourite!), boiled egg, cucumber and peanut. It’s very filling – Shafa’s mom even shared it with everyone!

The dish is available for RM14.90.

Lovers of western food, no worries. You will get a wide selection of western food here! Though it’s very tempting for lamb lovers like Shafa to order the Grilled Lamb Chop, she decided not to – at the end of the day, she still need to finish our toddler’s food!

And for those sweet tooth out there, these desserts are specially for you! They even have Vanilla Creme Brulee to satisfy your cravings.

Last but not least, are the beverages. We opted for the Freshly Squeezed Oranges and Apple. Trying to stay healthy here after indulging loads of amazing food!

They were really fresh, indeed! Vibrant colours with real fruit taste, these are definitely must-have to accompany your meals!

The freshly squeezed fruits are available for RM9 each.

And that sums up our review for today. What are your thoughts on the food available here at Reef Cafe? Drop your comments below!

The Buzz And Royal Gourmet: July And August Promotion Food Review

JenjalanKami is so excited to bring you our next food review – The Buzz and Royal Gourmet, two restaurants located in Premiere Hotel Klang, for their July and August menu!

We were warmly greeted by the staff upon arrival. Great customer service!

The moment we came into the restaurant, the set up for photography was ready. So efficient!

Now, let’s dive in to how the food tasted – starting from the new menu for The Buzz!

This, ladies and gentlemen, is the Ikan Bakar Tepian Tebrau. Interesting name, isn’t it? It’s really the exact location where the chef was inspired to came up with the recipe.

Now, if only we can be like him – tasting a good food and try coming up with a recipe when we got home. This blog could turn into a cooking blog!

The fish comes together with rice, so it definitely is very filling. Believe us, it tastes just as great as how it looks (we rated a perfect excellent for this)!

We love the mix of sourness, and the level of hot is tolerable. Though we personally think it would be nicer if it is more hot. Then again, we are used to Negeri Sembilan & Javanese cooking, so probably we have different taste preference with the local Klang people in terms of the hot level.

The set is available for RM32.

Looking for finger foods during lunch time? No problem, they have Carbonara Chicken Spring Roll!

As you can see, it is very well-presented with beautiful mix of salad and tomatoes. Such a healthy lunch!

The wrap is crunchy with creamy carbonara sauce – prepared with the right mix of chicken and vegetables inside. We loved the taste, and thus, rated a perfect excellent for this dish as well. However, we personally think it would taste better without the peas (hey, we’re not peas fans).

The dish is available for RM20.

Pasta lovers, we hear you! This dish is called Pasta Vongole Pesto With Clam. The look is nice and the portion is great! But since we are not familiar with pesto, we think it tasted average. But worth a try!

This dish is available for RM25.

And now, let’s move to the menu for Royal Gourmet!

This tasty-looking dish is called Claypot Glass Noodle with Fresh Water Prawn, and has a great mix of vegetables and prawns. It’s a little bit salty to us, but just nice to tone down the strong taste of the vegetables.

But we have to tell this – the prawns were so juicy! So, all you prawn lovers out there should try this dish if you happen to be around town. As you can see, the portion is very big – definitely can accommodate big eaters!

This dish is available for RM32.

Last, but not least, is the Sizzling Honey Glaze Chicken. This particular picture is credit to our dearest friend Reen Borhan, who helped taking some pictures as back up. Many thanks!

These sizzling bites of chicken in sweet honey glaze is delicious, especially since it’s served hot! The presentation and the portion size are also great. We love it!

This dish is available for RM28.

Overall, we absolutely love and highly recommend people around the area of Bandar Bukit Tinggi, Klang, to try out their new menu. Kudos to Chef Noor Hisham Bin Mohamed Yusof and Chef Mohd Rosnan Bin Jaraih for preparing the awesome food!

Also special thanks to Mr. Azmi Tajudin for arranging the food & beverage, as well as Mr. Shamsul Fariz Mohd Sharif for inviting us.

What do you think of their new menu? Drop your comments below!

There are also the laksa, noodles & kuetiaw variations.

Of course a buffet will never be complete without roasted lamb. This is perfect for the lamb lovers and it is presented still on a grill! Surely your mouth will water with just the view of it.

Shafa’s found her favorite roti jala at the buffet table too. There are also different kinds of salad to choose from if you want to go light on the meals.

But of course, there are various desserts to choose from. The buffet caters desserts from traditional to modern ones that would surely fit one’s love for something sweet.
