Leo Palace Hotel (New Wing) – Strategic Location Beside PWTC

We had a three days and two nights stay at the Leo Palace Hotel at Kuala Lumpur before Ramadan.

The room we got was quite neat and had a comfortable space for a family of three with a toddler.

We had a study table where you can do work (which I don’t recommend if you are on vacation – but of course, travel bloggers don’t have much choice), charge mobile phones, and have coffee because an electric kettle and coffee mix is readily within your reach.

We got the Executive Suite which comes with a decent bathroom that has the basic toiletries and a hair dryer.

It was a bit small but the size was fairly comfortable.

From our room, we had a view of Kuala Lumpur city lights, Sunway Putra Mall, KL Tower and The Petronas Twin Towers. We love watching beautiful lights of the city at night, so this is a plus for us!

At the new wing of the Leo Palace Hotel we found a spot where you can chill while waiting for your partner to check in or check out of the hotel. But of course for us, this was the perfect spot for taking pictures!

The Leo Palace Hotel (New Wing) is located just beside the Putra Worldtrade Centre, so they are usually fully booked when there are events or conferences. I would advise you to plan ahead and book early if you want to stay here to avoid inconvenience.

Of course, we wouldn’t miss the chance to make the most of this staycation without trying out their swimming pool. It was perfectly situated on a height in the 9th floor where you get the wide view of the city with the nearby public transport (woo hoo for the kids to see trains!), buildings, and PWTC of course.

Our son loves the water, so this was really fun for him! We were able to capture a moment with the beautiful sky in the late evening at the rooftop of the hotel. We believe we got the perfect picture with all the beauty in it. The beautiful scenery with our beautiful family.

On our last day at the hotel, we had their mini breakfast buffet with a pretty good choices of food for guests of different ages. It was just right to have our bellies full to conclude our stay.

Definitely try this accommodation if you need to be near the area, and especially if you are attending event at PWTC! The price is pretty much reasonable for the convenience, comfort and service they provide.

VHM Experience – Vivatel Kuala Lumpur

Vouk Hotel Management offers a range of hotel brands that offers top quality services. One of the hotels under their management is the Vivatel Kuala Lumpur, and we got a chance to book a stay with them before Ramadan. Here is our experience!

We were greeted with a green lit lobby upon check in. The lobby interiors were beautiful. It really made the hotel memorable and unique.

Oh, we need to mention that there was also a vending machine placed in the hotel. This is perfect for the late night-snackers like me! You can grab a snack fast without leaving the hotel premises. But if you are looking for something heavier, there is a mamak restaurant just across the road.

When we got to our executive suite room number 1017, it was a sweet surprise.

Our room had a mini living room where you can entertain guests or just sit and read or watch the television while you relax. It is not that big but quite spacious for three people and a toddler to spend some time.

Our bedroom, on the other hand, was very spacious. A large bed with a very inviting interior will really provide a good rest if you are looking for one.

There was also a study table where you can do some work.

We like that the closet was all mirrors. It made the space look a lot bigger than it was.

Inside the closet were the usual complimentary hotel room items like bathrobe, ironing board and an iron. We especially love the laundry bag!

The washroom was also surrounded with glass doors. I like that it looked neat and clean with the whole bathroom layout. They have a tub that had glass doors leading to the shower and wash area as well.

Our room was basically surrounded with glass, too, so you can see a whole view of the city.

Our suite also had a mini kitchen which lets us dine inside or have coffee any time of the day if we want to stay in for a little bit.

Since we checked in during the night, it was a pleasant surprise the next morning! The full windows provided a good morning view that even my toddler couldn’t resist. We were even surprised that he was not afraid of heights!

We opted to add an extra bed, which was placed in the living room, yet we still got plenty of room to move. And of course, it was now time to check out their cafΓ© for a good breakfast.

Hotels under Vouk Hotel Management are not only known for good service but also for good food.

Vivatel has Retro CafΓ© which has colorful seats waiting near the reception area and a great window view.

Inside the cafΓ© there were white tables and a very good interior decorations which were somewhat geometrical in pattern but looked really modern.

The breakfast buffet offered variety of beverages, fruits, cereals and pastries which you can warm depending on your preferences. They had a wide range of offerings for a full breakfast meals as well.

They also had a gym where Shafa’s mom decided to have a brief workout.

The glass around the room allows you to see some greeneries outside and the pool beside it makes going to the gym awesome.

The swimming pool had a chilling place where you can sit if you don’t want to get in the water but you need to watch the kids.

The pool was located at the 5th floor and had a partition for kids and adults. And yes, the kid’s swimming pool was safe for even our toddler’s height!

If you are not a fan of working out, you can still have your exercise while taking a stroll at the Viva Mall just beside the hotel. It was connected at the ground floor of the hotel, so you can easily access the mall if you need to go buy something or have more choices for food.

Overall, our short stay in Vivatel was wonderful. The decorations made you feel closer to nature and it was very refreshing to see a lot of greens in the surroundings. They also had a very modern interior concept. Definitely checking out more hotel under Vouk Hotel Management!

Oakwood Hotel & Residence Kuala Lumpur – An Elegant Stay With Great Food

Offering a range of elegant hotel rooms and serviced apartments, we picked the Oakwood Hotel & Residences, Kuala Lumpur to be our home for a 2-nights stay. This hotel is perfectly located in te Kuala Lumpur city while not far from the Petronas Twin Towers, so it is just right if you want to walk around the area and visit tourist spots.

They offered variety of rooms that would fit every guest needs from a Deluxe Room to a 2-Bedroom Apartment. When we walked into our room, we were pleasantly surprised to see the very smart division between the bedroom and the living room with mini kitchen.

It was quite spacious that our son was able to run around in circles without bumping to the furniture. Watch the above live video, recorded on Facebook, to see how the room looks like, and the cheekiness of our toddler!

The kitchen had cutlery, plates, bowls, a microwave oven and a rice cooker if you want to eat inside the room. The counter top also had enough space and was arranged neatly with the basic hotel complimentary coffee, tea and water. There was also a mini fridge in one of the cabinets that will be very useful to breastfeeding mothers for proper milk storage.

The bed area also had enough space to fit our things in. The closet had the usual safe, iron and ironing board. There was also a study table in one corner if you need to have a quick look at work or businesses you need to attend to.

The bathroom was really nice. It had a very relaxing shower and a clean space – you’d be comfortable to spend your morning and night grooming sessions. But what really made us smile was that the room had 2 flat screen TVs, which means that we don’t need to give way to children’s shows because we can just watch in the living room while our toddler watches his favorite shows from the bed (and vice versa) !

As to the facilities of the hotel, the pool and the gym were located just beside each other. Watch below live video, recorded on Facebook, for a tour around the swimming pool and gym.

Our son was enjoying the pool with his dad while his mom tried to burn some calories on the treadmill while watching them. This is awesome for moms who want to have a personal time at the gym but need to keep an eye on their kids enjoying the pool!

On the same day, we wanted to visit Suria KLCC, which was very near to the hotel.

If you will be staying at Oakwood Hotel & Residences, this will be your go-to place for shopping, dining and attractions in KL. From here you can easily access the following spots to visit:
β€’ Petronas Twin Towers
β€’ Esplanade (Lake Symphony)
β€’ KLCC Park
β€’ Petrosains Discovery Centre
β€’ Petronas Art Gallery
β€’ Aquaria KLCC
β€’ Kuala Lumpur Convention Center
β€’ Dewan Filharmonik Petronas
With this list just in the area, you will definitely have a down time. If these are not your thing, you can always explore restaurants or go shopping because they always offer good deals.

The next morning we enjoyed the breakfast buffet! There was a wide variety of food that will accommodate not just the adults but the kids’ hunger as well. Watch below live video, recorded on Facebook, for a tour around the breakfast buffet.

We bid goodbye to the hotel and we got a token of thank you for the stay.

We didn’t know that we’ll find our favorite mug in here! Thank you Oakwood Hotel & Residence Kuala Lumpur for the stay and thoughtful gift!

Updated: We just found another blog that gives a detailed explanation of the hotel as well. Check it out here: https://www.kuaby.com/oakwood-hotel-residence-kuala-lumpur/

EDC Hotel Kuala Lumpur – Reminiscing Nostalgic Memories

Our review for today is about the EDC Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. This is a 3-star hotel located along Jalan Raja Laut that offers a wide range of services and amenities. They have 242 rooms including 6 suites, 7 function halls and a ballroom that could fit up to 500 people. Huge right? Let’s get into details from our experience. We got a Deluxe Triple room and it did not disappoint! It had a theme that showcased history shown in pictures hanged on the wall. This was sweet for our 2 nights stay.Even the walls on the hotel were filled with photos from the past. It was nice to bring your parents or elders here because they will get to remember memories from some of the photos for sure. Shafa’s mom had fun reminiscing while looking at the photos. There was also a walkway connecting Block A and Block B with blue lighting which makes the place very unique and interesting. Our son loved this color and he was really amazed walking in here.First off, we went to Sudirman CafΓ© located in EDC Hotel itself. Watch below live video, recorded on Facebook, to see how the cafe looks like, and some explanations on the set menu.We ordered Set C from their Express Set Menu which had Stir Fried Cashewnut Chicken, Vegetable Soup With Japanese Tofu, Mixed Vegetables and White Rice all for only RM 15.00.The cafΓ© interior was nice with classic songs from the legendary Sudirman and the menu prices were reasonable. My mom even commented the chicken was very good (watch below video) !We all know how moms can be very honest with food, so the food was really good.We also had our breakfast at the CafΓ© and our son enjoyed his breakfast. After that we went for some stroll. We were able to have a day trip at the KL Tower! But since Shafa’s 69-year old mom was joining and this will require a lot of walking, we just decided to not go up. Instead, we walked around the area to check out other spots. We were able to walk by a Jelutong tree which was located within the vicinity of KL Tower. It was very nice to know that this more-than-100-years-old tree was preserved and our kids will still get to see this. There was also the Blue Coral Aquarium within the KL Tower compound. There were so many aquariums inside with different sorts of fish that our toddler can’t stop yelling β€œFISH!” whenever he sees one. He had so much fun!We had to head back to the hotel already for dinner and we ordered the same Express Set Menu but different set. There was another big group of people who were having a family day. Watch below live video recorded on Facebook to see what we ordered and how the event looks like! Then here we were on our last breakfast buffet here! They have a wide range of breakfast food from full meals, soup to even cereals. Surely even kids will love this. Watch below live video recorded on Facebook to have a feel & look of the food!

We got our tummies full and geared up as we go on a final stroll out.The last place we visited from the hotel is the famous Plaza GM.It was just walking distance and this was a good way to cap off this mini getaway. We surely recommend this hotel for families. You will have a great area to walk around and be back at the hotel for a good food and a comfortable room to rest in.

CNY Menu At Ming Palace Restaurant, Corus Hotel Kuala Lumpur

JenjalanKami was honored to be invited by Corus Hotel Kuala Lumpur to have some food tasting of their new CNY menu at Ming Palace Restaurant, located in the hotel!

Being in the CNY mood, Shafa decided to wear a casual CNY themed outfit, which she had bought years ago. Glad it still fits!

The hotel itself was lovely decorated with CNY decorations. Festive mood is in the air!

The restaurant was oriental-themed, perfect for those who are eating out to celebrate CNY.

Meet the Executive Chinese Chef behind the CNY menu – Mr. Ng Chee Wah! Beside him was the Senior Marketing Manager of Corus Hotel KL – Ms. Azlinda Mohd.

OMG we swear this was the tastiest and the most heavy full course we’ve had in our entire life! πŸ˜‚

Let’s dive on into each of the dishes!

1. Lou Sang Set Of Pear And Salmon Fish Yee Sang

We started of with, first and foremost, the Pear And Salmon Fish Yee Sang! This was second or third Yee Sang for Shafa, but the tastiest one she had so far!

She’s a big fan of salmon and salads, so this dish easily became her favourite (hence, the happy face). There were pears, guava and pomelo mixed with the salmon and pine nuts. Mmmm… So yummy and crunchy!

2. Double Boiled Chicken With Abalone, Sea Cucumber And ‘Ming Mok Yee’

Have a look at Shafa’s face, and you can imagine how fragrant the broth was. This double boiled chicken soup tasted quite intense, as it is more of a tonic than a broth.

With abalone and ming mok yee added, it is said that this soup can help ward off physical and mental fatigue, improve one’s mood, regulate blood sugar levels, improve blood circulation and keep the body healthy as a whole – perfect as a dish for Chinese New Year!

3. Steamed Tiger Grouper In Supreme Soy Sauce

The dish looked so good, Shafa opened her mouth wide to eat all of them straight away (she’s a big fan of steamed fish). πŸ˜‚

This Steamed Tiger Grouper drizzled with the chef’s secret Supreme Soy Sauce was so delicious! The flesh is tender, silky and super delicate – you may want to consider to ask for second serving!

4. Lemon Salad Chicken

This Lemon Salad Chicken was so good. The sauce was sweet and tangy – totally makes you feel like you’re in heaven! The chicken was crispy outside and juicy inside. We really fell in love with this dish!

5. Baked Tiger Prawn With Salted Egg Yolk

This savoury goodness was our favourite! The golden yellow dish has a sandy texture that tasted so good in each and every bite – especially since it was mixed with Nestum cereal. There’s no word to describe how good it was!

6. Fried Rice With Almond And Raisins

We totally fell in love with this dish! The combination of almond and raisins were so savoury and sweet – it pairs beautifully with other dishes in the set. This is definitely a perfect side dish for the Chinese New Year!

7. Chilled Sea Coconut With Longan

The Chilled Sea Coconut With Longan is very nourishing and cooling – perfect to beat the heat of Malaysia’s hot weather.

This dessert has many benefits for the body, such as moisturises the lungs and tonifies the kidneys – yet the sweet taste of the longan make it as scrumptious as any dessert. We wouldn’t mind eating bowls and bowls of this!

8. Sweet Dainties Duet

This dish has 2 desserts in it (hence the name duet) – which are steamed bun with red bean filling and fried ninko bun yam based with lotus paste filling.

The hot and fluffy steamed buns were irresistible! The soft and fluffy buns were stuffed with sweet red bean paste filling. As for the ninko buns, they were wrapped around lotus paste and dipped in a yam batter which were fried to perfection. They tasted so good, it made us want to have a second serving!

The set menu starts from RM 1,188 nett onwards (per table of minimum 10 persons) inclusive of one bottle of red wine or chilled orange juice with a 38% off on a second table of 10 pax.

As for the Five Prosperity β€˜Lou Sang’ Menu it is priced at RM68 nett (half portion) and RM 108 nett ( for a full portion).

All promotions are available from now till 19th February 2019.

For bookings, please contact Ming Palace Chinese Restaurant at 03-2161 8888 extension 188. Or alternatively you may call the Marketing Department at extension 163.

Thank you Corus Hotel KL for having us!

MOV Hotel 2 Days 1 Night Experience – What You Need To Know

Hello everyone, hope you had a nice holiday! How has it been? For us, it was hectic. Just before the holidays, we were so excited to have been invited for a 1-night stay at MOV Hotel. Here’s what we think!

1. Parking service available

Everybody knows how Kuala Lumpur is such a packed place, especially the Bukit Bintang area. Therefore, MOV hotel doesn’t have it’s own parking space. However, there is a parking service available for those who come by car, which was offered by a third party. Just ask the friendly front desk people!

2. Instagrammable spots everywhere

Ahhh… Holiday is never complete (or started) without an awesome instagram update. The waiting area is beautifully decorated, with unique seats and lightings. Even Aydeen loves them!

The hotel is seriously instagrammable everywhere! This picture was taken inside the lift on our way up to the hotel room. Excuse Shafa’s eye bags, apparently it’s normal for mothers raising active toddlers. πŸ˜‚

And this was taken inside our room! Shafa would have selfie-d all day, if it wasn’t because she was dragging an 18-months-old toddler who doesn’t know how to sit still. 😌

And these were taken during breakfast! We told you the hotel is instagrammable everywhere. 😊

3. Slide to breakfast

See that white thing beside the beautiful waiting area? That’s the slide that will take you to breakfast, in case you’re bored with lifts or stairs!

And that red thing at the breakfast area? That is where you will be cushioned from the slide for breakfast! Slide your way to the homemade sausages!

4. Super friendly staffs

Now, isn’t this the first thing that anyone would review a hotel? A staff reflects the whole hotel service. So, with a smiley face and warm gestures like this, visitors will definitely come back again (we know our son would)!

5. Mesmerizing KL View

Aydeen loves windows, especially the ones where he can observe what’s happening around him. During the day you will have a great view of the busy city life.

Obviously, we loved the window too! Taking in the scenery a few seconds before Aydeen started to do things to grab our attention. You know, all those toddlers moves. 😣

We especially love the night view! Full of beautiful lightings from famous buildings. A great way to de-stress yourselves if you can’t be away from the city!

6. Beautifully Decorated Rooms

Romantic design, isn’t it? Though that design only lasted for a while before Aydeen decided to mess them up. Life with toddlers is always fun πŸ˜‚

7. Non-smoking Family Room

When we told the hotel staff that we will be coming with a 1-year-old toddler, they gave us this non-smoking MOV Family Loft room. Very thoughtful!

8. Perfect for family

The MOV Family Loft comes with 1 king-sized bed and 2 single beds on the upper level. Do watch your toddlers, they will definitely love the stairs!

9. Neatly arranged facilities

The sink was situated just beside the king-sized bed. And what’s best, there are two mirrors, baby! Perfect for family with many girls (apparently I was the only one interested in the mirror for our small family of three πŸ˜‚).

These were some of the facilities provided during our stay. Kiblat for Muslims are clearly signed too. Excuse our toddler, he was just too interested with the lamp above the bed. πŸ˜…

10. Scenic rooftop pool

This is our favourite picture of the stay – the swimming pool experience with a view from the rooftop! The swimming pool is quite small, though, you may want to avoid peak hours.

These were some of the views we managed to catch. We missed the night view as the time was too tight, didn’t manage to fit them in. Pretty sure parents with toddlers would understand that. πŸ˜…

11. Tourist spots nearby

These were some of the tourist spots that we managed to drive through nearby. Would have loved to visit, if it weren’t Aydeen’s bedtime already, and we only have one night!

12. Deliciously cooked breakfast

While waiting for our breakfast to be cooked (yes, cooked!), doughnuts were served. And as you can see from the picture, homemade sausages were also available.

These were the breakfast that we had. Aydeen apparently loved them, look how he was eager waiting to be fed!

We had an awesome experience with MOV hotel and will definitely come back again!
