Tune Tour Episode 2: Tune Hotel Penang

We’re so excited to share with you the second Tune Tour that our family experienced, after our first experience at Tune Hotel KLIA2 . Read more to learn about *drum roll* Tune Hotel Penang!

What’s best about this particular Tune Hotel (aside from the price) is its location. Tune Hotel Penang is located in the middle of food heaven in Georgetown! We saw a lot of eateries nearby, among them is the famous Continental Bakery.

Continental Bakery – one of the famous eateries near Tune Hotel Penang

To give you an idea of its awesome location, here’s a hint. It’s just a walking distance to Nagore Square, where you will be overwhelmed by the choices of restaurants.

Nagore Square – spoilt with many choices of restaurants

For us, the best part is having The Alley located near the hotel. We frequented the shop a few times during our stay. Totally love the beverages there – we are a huge fan of The Alley!

Before we go on about the foods in Penang, let’s have a look around Tune Hotel Penang . The lobby is located at Level 2, so hop on the lift once you entered the premise to check in!

Among the promotions at Tune Hotel Penang

We were briefed prior to our visit by the Hotel Manager, Mr. Auzae, and he informed that Tune Hotel Penang is collaborating with a number of eateries to offer some discounts for the guests. You can see some of them in the above picture. Cool, isn’t it?

Tune Hotel Penang’s lobby at Level 2
Waiting area at Tune Hotel Penang

Here’s how it looks like at the lobby in Level 2. Check in time starts at 2 p.m. and check out time is at 11 a.m. – it’s quite early compared to other hotels.

Simple cute decoration of our room

Upon entering the room, we were greeted by a simple cute decoration, with a warm message attached to the towel. We were so touched!

Compact bathroom concept at Tune Hotel Penang

As you can see, the concept of the room and bathroom of Tune Hotel Penang is similar to that of Tune Hotel KLIA2 , whereby everything is compact and neat. Of course, that signature TuneHotel.com sign on the bathroom’s glass door too!

You’re seeing another door? That’s right, because our room is connected to Shafa’s mom room. Not bad if you’re coming with a plus one (or two)!

The view from the room was not bad. We manage to see some greens and buildings!

View from our room in Tune Hotel Penang

Do note that Tune Hotel Penang doesn’t have a hotel restaurant, but who needs that when you’re in a food-heaven town? We particularly recommend having dinner at Hameediyah Restaurant and Sham Hammer Ikan Bakar Special while you’re in Penang!

JenjalanKami at Hameediyah Restaurant

Let’s not forget to take some beautiful shots at the iconic Penang Bridge! Travel to Penang is not complete without that.

The iconic Penang Bridge

And so that ends our review for Tune Hotel Penang. We love this hotel for its price and location! Stay tuned to know about the one must-go attraction if you’re in Penang in our upcoming blog post. Hint: Best for family travellers who love nature!

Note: The visit was before the COVID-19 virus takes in. Food Review: Le Grandeur Palm Resort Johor

If you have read our previous blog post, you would have known that we were reviewing about our stay in Le Grandeur Palm Resort Johor . In this blog post, we are going to review the various food that we experienced at Le Grandeur Palm Resort Johor from breakfast to dinner!

Our first dining experience at Le Grandeur Palm Resort Johor was having dinner at The Grill at Cocomo. Located near the lobby, this open kitchen concept restaurant is a must-go to satisfy your western food crave. You can check out the above Instagram post for pictures of our food (and also the live cooking team)!

We have also uploaded a live video, as above, for you to have a feel of dining with your family at The Grill at Cocomo. Luckily our main course have arrived when the live video was recorded! As parents of an active toddler, we may say that it is quite a challenge to wait for food in an open kitchen concept restaurant, very stimulating for the inquisitive minds (our toddler was literally running around the area for as far as he can run). But we didn’t mind, as the food were perfect to fuel our almost-empty energy, especially the medium rare steak that Yusof had!

We had our breakfast at Ishwara Asian Brasserie & Terrace a bit late the next morning, due to our toddler refused to sleep the night before (excuses, excuses). Check out the above live video to know what they serve for breakfast, how the breakfast area looks like, and the timing they serve the breakfast!

After breakfast, we went for a lengthy swimming pool play and then fuel up our tummy at the Fusion Restaurant in Le Grandeur Palm Resort Johor. We must say, it’s one of the best Japanese food we’ve tasted so far! Play the above live video to have a look around the restaurant and know what we ordered for lunch.

JenjalanKami in front of Fusion restaurant
Calm ambience inside Fusion Restaurant
Fusion Restaurant’s special menu on Saturdays: Chicken Porridge
The Chicken Porridge was tasty and approved by our toddler!
Shafa’s favourite: Sake Sashimi (Salmon)!
Unagi Maki (Rice Roll with Eel and Seaweed)
Yusof’s favourite: Tori Karage (Deep-fried Boneless Chicken)
Sake Sushi (Salmon)

The above are the pictures around the restaurant and the dishes that we tried. Our thoughts? Best Japanese dishes we’ve tasted so far! Not to mention the staff and restaurant manager were super friendly!

Dinner hours at Ishwara Asian Brasserie & Terrace

Later that night we went to Ishwara Asian Brasserie & Terrace again for a buffet steamboat. The dinner is served from 6.30pm to 10.30pm. Watch below live video for the look and feel during the dinner!

We were happy to be spoiled with many choices of food! Below are some food that were available during the buffet steamboat dinner.

We thought the next day will a bit more relaxed as we didn’t have food reviews in our original plan, since it was our check out day. But then Fusion Restaurant Manager invited us for yet another lunch to try their Teppanyaki!

Introduction & some starting actions by Chef Izam

As most of you would have known, the best part of Teppanyaki is to watch the Chef’s live cooking in preparing your food from scratch, with amazing actions! We were really looking forward into it, but we also know how active our toddler is. Thus, upon check out, Yusof was the one who took the videos & pictures of Teppanyaki from start, and Shafa came halfway through when one of the meals were ready (because at least our toddler won’t have to wait for the food and more time can be spent at the table instead of chasing him around). So Shafa basically missed the above introduction by Chef Izam.

Chef Izam in action

Too bad Shafa missed most of the actions performed by Chef Izam, such as the one shown in above video. But she’s still lucky to catch some actions, though. Watch below live video that Shafa manage to take when she arrived!

We even manage to interview Chef Izam once he’s done preparing our dishes. He is such a friendly person, indeed!

Chef Izam explaining about the ingredients
Chef Izam explaining about the Teppanyaki set

And that wraps up our food review of restaurants in Le Grandeur Palm Resort Johor. We must say it was a really great experience!

Note: The visit was before the COVID-19 virus takes in. As parents of a toddler who are also living with an elderly, we do advise you to adhere to the government rules and guidelines by the Health Ministry. Resort Review: Le Grandeur Palm Resort Johor

Hello everyone! We’ve been busy with many aspects of our life since our last travel, hence the delayed update. Shafa has been busy with homeschooling our toddler with so many development milestone to catch back then (which he has been progressing very well and even advanced at certain things)! Aside from that, she’s been busy with her freelancing jobs, which she had secured a number of clients since our last travel. Congrats to her!

JenjalanKami at Johor Premium Outlet

Anyhow, let’s quickly move to our next resort review, which is Le Grandeur Palm Resort Johor. It’s been our favourite resort since Shafa’s pregnancy years. One of the staffs even remembered we had patronage the resort once before, which was cool! As usual, we will stop by at Johor Premium Outlet (JPO) before reaching the resort. JPO is located about 11 minutes from Le Granduer, which is great for shopaholics!

Le Grandeur Palm Resort Johor’s lobby area

Le Grandeur Palm Resort Johor is a place that we will always come back again and again. We first visited the resort back when Shafa was pregnant, and it is amazingly convenient as you don’t have to go anywhere else to have fun (sometimes pregnant woman just don’t want to go anywhere). Now that we came back here with a toddler, we find it amazing place for family with small kids! We’ll share the details of what we think of the resort for family travellers below.

During our stay, we manage to try the resort’s Deluxe Suite. Play the above video to know more about the Deluxe Suite’s view and facilities!

We also manage to snap a few pictures inside the bedroom of our suite. Check out Shafa’s Instagram post above to see all the three pictures. We think it’s a beautiful room with warm lightings!

The whole suite is spacious and comfortable for families! But you may want to keep watchful eyes on your toddler for the stairs if you have an active climber and explorer like ours. Check out the above Instagram post for the pictures around the suite!

The best is definitely the view from the suite. So green! And you can even catch airplanes passing by, as it is located about three minutes from the Senai Airport! Check out the above Instagram post to see the view from the suite’s balcony.

Walking in Le Grandeur Palm Resort Johor

And now, let’s have a tour around the resort! The above staircase that you see is our scenic walk towards the sports centre. You can ask to be transported by a buggy, but we just want to walk around the area with our toddler.

Le Grandeur Palm Resort Johor bowling area

The sports centre is quite big, where they have quite a number of sports to play in the centre. They even have a second swimming pool here! But as usual, we choose to play bowling. You have no idea the struggles we had to go through to complete the game with a very inquisitive toddler.

Our toddler having fun at the pool!

We visited the swimming pool next morning after breakfast. There’s nothing quite like splashing in the swimming pool with winds blowing. Just play the above video to watch how happy our toddler was! Don’t worry, Yusof is nearby our toddler, just below the shades. Our toddler refused to be under the shade with him.

And so that ends our non-food review for Le Grandeur Palm Resort Johor. We totally love this resort, which made us came twice for visit! Stay tuned for the food updates for this resort in our upcoming blog post. Hint: Best food ever!

Food Review: Durian Dessert Platter At Dondang Sayang Coffee House, Corus Hotel Kuala Lumpur

We are so excited during the visit, and at the time of writing this, as we are HUGE durian fans! Seriously, we are the ones who you would see coming to durian stalls during durian season, and the ones who would always voluntarily accompany Shafa’s brothers for a durian feast whenever they’re back in Malaysia.

And so, when Corus Hotel Kuala Lumpur invited us for a review of their Durian Dessert Platter as part of their ‘Durian365@Corus’ promotion, we are more than happy to do so! What’s best about this promotion is that not only Corus Hotel has whole durians to serve in its durian room (yes, they have a room specially for that), the hotel also has durian desserts – all these are served permanently for 365 days a year (yup, that’s every single day of the year).

The Durian Dessert Platter is served at Dondang Sayang Coffee House in Corus Hotel Kuala Lumpur daily from 12noon to 9pm. It consists of eight durian-inspired desserts and accompanied by coffee or tea, and priced at RM78 nett for two. Not bad for a durian date, isn’t it? Now, let us spill about the details of each dessert.

1. Durian Crepe

Behold Shafa’s favourite durian dessert since university years – the Durian Crepe! This dessert comes in the form of fluffy buttermilk pancakes and of course with the awesomeness taste of durian. Adding up to your sweet tooth crave is the dusted powdered sugar on top – totally makes you ask for second serving!

2. Durian BB Signature Mousse Cake

If you think mousse cake is the best dessert on earth, then you should try this Durian BB Signature Mousse Cake at Dondang Sayang Coffee House in Corus Hotel Kuala Lumpur. It’s super light and made fresh daily – the perfect dessert after a day’s stress at work!

3. Rabbit Coconut Durian Mousse

This Rabbit Coconut Durian Mousse is Shafa’s favourite in terms of looks (HUGE animal lover)! The taste is also promising – with creamy coconut and durian being the most dominant flavours. A must for coconut lovers!

4. San Sebastian Durian Burnt Cheese Cake

It’s a good thing we didn’t bring our toddler for the food review, otherwise he could’ve finish this San Sebastian Durian Burnt Cheese Cake by himself! This flourless cheese cake will satisfy your dairy cravings and melt in your mouth. Totally lovable by kids and adults!

5. Durian Macaron

Any macaron lovers here? You should try this Durian Macaron at Dondang Sayang Coffee House in Corus Hotel Kuala Lumpur. This sweet French dessert is burst with durian flavours – a perfect complement to the freshly brewed coffee that comes with the dessert. A taste you can’t say no to!

6. Durian Tiramisu

This Durian Tiramisu is a heavenly mix of flavours – durian and tiramisu combined! Who wouldn’t love having a dessert with mascarpone cheese, ladyfingers dipped in espresso and whipped cream as ingredients? Showered with cocoa powder on top, probably the best thing you could ever wish for during your birthday!

7. Durian Matcha Cake Roll

Speaking of birthday, guess what did Shafa received from the hotel for her birthday? You guessed right – the Durian Matcha Cake Roll! It just so happen that Shafa LOVES matcha and a huge fan of durian – she was definitely very excited! This flavourful mix gives you the aroma of matcha, with a tasty creamy durian inside. Just add a candle on top should do the trick for an unforgettable mini birthday cake, like the one you’ll see in below video. 😉

It is very thoughtful, indeed. Thank you Corus Hotel Kuala Lumpur team, for making a working day birthday feels awesome!

8. Durian Tart With Italian Meringue

This Durian Tart With Italian Meringue is THE dessert for sweet tooth people! The sugar-crusted tart is filled with durian puree and topped with Italian Meringue that will instantly make you feel dreamy after the first bite. Try it yourself!

Bonus: Durian-flavoured Ice Cream

Just the perfect dessert for Malaysian weather! This Durian-flavoured Ice Cream will add delight to all guests who come by for desserts that will cool them down after walking on a hot, sunny day.

Served in ice cream cones, they are sure to bring back sweet childhood memories!

And if you need some cute backdrop for your OOTD, they’re available, too 😉

Bonus: The Durian Room

Not only you will NOT FIND the “no durian” signs in Corus Hotel Kuala Lumpur, they even have their own Durian Room for the purpose of, well, eating durians!

We were briefed my Mrs. Azlinda Mohd, the Senior Marketing Manager at Corus Hotel Kuala Lumpur, on the types of durians available here, as well as how they will be served.

The Durian Room at Corus Hotel Kuala Lumpur draws inspiration from the more common cigar and wine tasting rooms.

It houses a permanent and fresh serving of three of the country’s most in demand durian varieties, which are the Musang King, D24 and XO.

The exclusive space will allow locals and tourists to enjoy fresh helpings of these durian varieties whenever they are staying or dining at the Hotel.

And this, ladies and gentlemen, is the face of a happy guest 😊

What’s your thoughts on the Durian Dessert Platter, Durian-flavoured Ice Cream and The Durian Room at Corus Hotel Kuala Lumpur? We would love to hear from you!

Resort Review: Thistle Port Dickson

This is one of the resorts that holds great memories for our family. We’ve been to Thistle Port Dickson twice this year, and the high level of satisfactory feels just like the first time.

And that first time was way back when we had family gathering on Shafa’s side of family, soon after our marriage, and especially soon after Shafa’s late dad was diagnosed with Leukemia. That was way back in early January 2015. It feels bittersweet to come back, but it always hold special place in our hearts.

This is one of our many favourite things about Thistle Port Dickson. They have kids pools and adult pools, with different depths. Also they have another infinity pool – our favourite since the first time we visited this resort about four years ago!

Always our favourite infinity pool! Each time we’re at Thistle Port Dickson, we would always come by the infinity pool for some pictures, especially during sunset. It looks magical.

Back when we were just a travel couple, this was our favourite spot to swim because it’s far from the main swimming pools of the resort. It’s quite peaceful to swim here, especially since it has a nice view. Now? Practical is more important than romantic. Most of the time we’ll be at the kids swimming pool.

Such a beautiful family room here at Thistle Port Dickson!

There is one double bed & one bunk bed, enough to accommodate two adults and two children. We personally love the decorations around the bunk bed – so cute!

We never appreciate petting zoos until we became a parent.

Kids LOVE animals, especially if they can pet them. Thistle Port Dickson offers bunny petting time between 10am – 11am & 4.30pm – 5.30pm. Our toddler definitely was excited to see the rabbits and birds!

And… Our favourite spot to snap pictures! It’s been years, but this swing is still here at the beach of Thistle Port Dickson.

Somebody seems to be enjoying the game! If your boys are not up for holiday at Thistle Port Dickson, you now know where to take them.

What’s your thoughts on the resort? We would love to hear from you!

7 Best Cities To Visit In Florida That Will Make Your Kids Happy

In the grand scheme of life there is nothing more sacred than family. We have always shared the same values but none more passionately than the importance of putting family first and making time spent with loved ones a top priority.

This is why we travel together every chance we get, and these days bring mom along for the ride. When it was just us and our little guy, we had a blast traveling from one place to a next and creating memories that would last a lifetime.

These days, we live by the words “the more the merrier!” As our readers know by now, we are big on locations that are not only family-friendly but that are also fun for all ages, young or old.

This is why we’re featuring an all new blog post centering around a vacation spot that is world-famous for amusement parks, beaches, resorts and other family-appropriate attractions: Florida!

Many have heard about it, some have seen it first-hand and it is a bucket list travel destination for travelers world-wide but we’re going to let you in on some of the best kept secrets, a.k.a kid friendly cities, that the sunshine state has to offer.

Some might be as world-famous as the state itself but others will be sure to entice you to add them to your bucket list in the future if you ever get the chance to truly explore all of the magic, sun and pristine beaches the state has to offer!

First up, which will come as no surprise to those who are just as in love with Florida as we are, is:

1. Orlando

Home to more than a dozen different amusement parks, history-rich museums and cultural festivals, Orlando is one of the best cities to visit when you’re in town with little ones in tow.

Whether you’re looking for thrills at Universal Orlando on their twisty roller coasters, magic with beloved characters at Walt Disney World, history lessons at some of the finest museums or tons of cuddles from the animals at Green Meadows Petting Farm, you won’t leave Florida feeling like you missed out on ANY of the fun.

2. Destin

Credit: Emerald Coast

Pristine white sand, crystal clear waters with a hint of emerald and sunsets that will take your breath away. Need we say any more?

We’re joking, there is SO much more to say about this beautiful city in the Florida panhandle. You can book a sitter to walk the beach as a couple, or if you take little ones with you like we do, there is no shortage of fun in the sun to be had on the beach itself.

Into mouth-watering treats? There are tons of restaurants with menus that have items that even in the littlest mouths will devour!

To make it even more enticing, you can take your little ones to the Buccaneer Pirate Cruise where the crew will keep your kiddos busy with water gun fights, discovering sunken treasure, dancing and more! Better yet, if you’re a fan of marine life and are dying to see it up close, you can view dolphins in their natural habitat by visiting the Southern Star Dolphin Cruise.

3. St.Augustine

There are two kinds of visitors to the city of St.Augustine. Those who swear by the beach, which offers white sands and beautiful waters, and those who choose it for the history & streets lined with shops.

Personally, we’d say we would go for a little of both. We love a good trip to the beach but we also love popping into shops to see what trinkets they have available for purchase.

If you have a fan of all things reptilian, then you simply must visit the St.Augustine Alligator Farm. Home to a variety of crocs, alligators and caiman species as well as a special 15 foot saltwater resident, you can easily expect to spend an entire day just taking in the prehistoric creatures.

So, reptiles aren’t really your thing nor do your kids appreciate all of the teeth & scales? You can focus more on the history surrounding St.Augustine by heading over to Fort Castillo De San Marcos, a must-see historical landmark that draws in visitors from all over.

With tours, canon demonstrations and a junior ranger program to take part in, you’ll come away with a ton of new knowledge about those who defended the fort as well as its purpose.

4. Weeki Wachee

Credit: WeekiWachee.com

Located in Hernando County, and with a population of exactly 12 people, you might wonder why Weeki Wachee has made our list. Well, for the simple fact that the city is home to the Weeki Wachee Springs State Park.

This is the ideal place for those who aren’t a fan of the harsh beach weather that Florida is known for and who are looking for a memorable experience for their children outside of sandcastles and waves.

Home to the world-famous mermaids of the Weeki Wachee, the springs offer a variety of exciting shows including wildlife, the riverboat cruise and Buccaneer Bay, where you can experience the thrill of the water park slides, and direct access to the crystal clear springs.

It’s the perfect way to beat the heat, while enjoying the best of Weeki Wachee. Visitors can also enjoy a variety of other activities that include kayaking, hiking and boating!

5. Kenansville

Credit: Visit Orlando

As shameless animal lovers, we felt that we just had to include Kenansville for one very specific reason: Wild Florida Gator Park.

It’s not to say that Kenansville isn’t without it’s own charm to draw in visitors, however, the main attraction is definitely Wild Florida. In this case, when you have children with you, the park is absolute perfection with what they offer for their visitors.

If you have a little animal enthusiast at home, you won’t want to miss the amazing experience that you can have at Wild Florida. Available for up close and personal experiences are lemurs, porcupines and our personal favorite, SLOTHS.

The one of a kind experience allows you to accompany a trained expert into the habitat of your choice of their featured furry friends and actually feed perform species specific enrichment activities. Not only that, but for an extra fee you can also take SELFIES with your animal of choice. If that’s not a one of a kind, heart stopping opportunity then we don’t know what is!

6. Tampa

Credit: WISE.travel

Although listed on the bottom of our list, Tampa is by no means any less exciting. From amusement parks to some of the worlds greatest zoo’s, a trip to this particular city will be one for the family vacation books.

One attraction in particular that we want to mention is the Florida Aquarium. Home to a 250,000 square foot aquarium, the Florida Aquarium is a must-have on any vacationers bucket list.

From clown fish to the great white, your whole family will be wowed by the many different types of marine sea life that are housed at the aquarium.

Marine life not a thriller in your life? Then there’s also several amusement parks such as Busch Gardens, ZooTampa at Lowry Park and of course, the Museum of Science & Industry.

Affectionately nicknamed the Big Guava, Tampa will not disappoint. This is especially true if you’re looking to make your trip a memorable one for your littlest travelers.

7. Clearwater

Located on Florida’s Gulf Coast, Clearwater gets it’s name for the dazzlingly clear waters of its beaches. We know we’ve covered a lot of mention of beaches in our post so we’ll skip over the details of the beach side of things for now and say that there’s plenty more to do in Clearwater than to just get sand in your shoes.

For example, the mini-carnival “Sunsets at Pier 60” will grab your attention in a hurry with it’s street performers, musicians and wide variety of wares for sale. Families can also visit Winter, the world-renowned dolphin who overcame unbelievable odds, in residence at the Clearwater Aquarium.

Tired of all of the water? Feast on delicious authentic foods at the East Gateway District where you can also find La Feria de la Nieve, old fashioned Mexican ice cream.

Well, there you have it. We’ve compiled a list of 7 Best Cities To Visit In Florida That Will Make Your Kids Happy for our readers that we think you’ll love taking a look through.

For animal lovers, thrill seekers, cultural enthusiasts and more, there are so many different experiences waiting for you in the sunshine state. Whether you’re traveling as a couple, or in our case, as a whole family unit (little guy included!) you’ll never run out of fun, exciting gems to uncover in Florida.

It is one of the best states for families that we’ve ever seen and can’t wait until our travels one day take us to its beautiful beaches, zoo’s, thrilling amusement parks and beyond!

Resort Review: DoubleTree Resort By Hilton Penang (Part 3 – Kids Club, Famous Attractions And Swimming Pools)

Here comes Part 3 of our review on DoubleTree Resort By Hilton Penang. As promised, we will now share our experience touring around Kids Club, picking two famous attractions and splashing in the swimming pools.

Evergreen and refreshing, this walkway is just beside the swimming pool at DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Penang. Perfect for your OOTD (just like what Shafa’s mom did)! Guess where we’re heading to?

We went to the Kids Club in DoubleTree by Hilton Penang! Upon touring the area, we really love the concept.

Located just opposite the kids swimming pool, Kids Club is your answer if you need to leave your kids for a while to do some work or errands, or probably just to have a quick date with your spouse!

Open from 10am to 7pm daily, the centre is filled with fun and educational activities.

From arts & crafts, splash time, picnics, storytelling, juggling, zumba, masterchef, Ukulele lessons and cartoon-time – your kids will love this place!

There are even Batik Handkerchief Painting and outdoor cinema too 😍

If they’re not the activity type, there’s even a place to lie down and watch TV.

Too awesome! Watch below video, recorded live on Facebook, where we (and the staff) explain about Kids Club in detail.

That afternoon, we went to round the island for awhile. There’s quite a number of attractions in Penang, so yo have to know what you want to see.

Have an interest on bugs, spiders, lizards and butterflies? Head over to Entopia! Located just a mere 17-minute drive from DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Penang, this is a perfect place for nature and animal lovers!

In the evening, we manage to fit in pool session into our itinerary. Nothing makes a toddler happier than playing with slides and landing in water, with feet on sands.

We love the concept of this kids swimming pool at DoubleTree by Hilton Penang, located just beside the Kids Club! Listen to how our toddler squealed with excitement in the above video.

It’s definitely one of the best kids swimming pool experience we’ve had! This kids swimming pool at DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Penang even comes with sandy floors, as seen in the above video. Now, this is our definition of fun!

And let’s not forget the perfect green view just beside the pool! Not only DoubleTree by Hilton Penang has fun kids swimming pool, the view from the pools was also very mesmerizing. Watch below video, recorded live on Facebook, for our full experience at the swimming pools.

The swimming pool area is also perfect for romantic stroll after dinner at the Makan Kitchen!

Makan Kitchen is located just beside the swimming pool. With just enough lighting to light your way, but not too bright to spoil the romantic mood.

Let’s move on to yet another one of the best things for kids at DoubleTree by Hilton Penang – the TeddyVille Museum!

It is Malaysia’s first and largest collection of Teddy Bears from various nations and eras.

There’s some entrance fee to pay to get into the museum, though.

Before you go back, you may want to buy some souvenirs from the shop.

They have tees, jackets, key chains, towels, magnets, and of course, teddy bears!

Look at how excited our toddler was, touching the cute life-size teddy bear.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at DoubleTree by Hilton Penang. Thank you for having us!

What’s your thoughts on the resort? Wold love to hear from you!

Resort And Food Review: DoubleTree Resort By Hilton Penang (Part 2 – Breakfast And Dinner At Makan Kitchen)

Here comes Part 2 of our review on DoubleTree Resort By Hilton Penang. As promised, we will now share our experience having breakfast & dinner at Makan Kitchen.

We were very delighted to find the view of our breakfast during our second day staying at the resort. Located just beside the swimming pool, the resort really makes your breakfast a good start! Watch below video, recorded live on Facebook on our breakfast environment that morning.

Every family traveller loves child-friendly restaurants – and that’s exactly our first impression of Makan Kitchen at DoubleTree Resort By Hilton Penang! Their high chair was very comfy. Our toddler seemed to love seating in there for quite a stretch of time, with a great view of the outdoors!

Their children dining set was also super cute. Our toddler can’t help but talking about the animal images!

They have friendly & considerate staff, too. As you can see in the picture, Shafa was babywearing our toddler. It’s part of our strategy for Shafa to babywear our toddler while Yusof take the food for everyone, so that our toddler won’t be running around and go straight to the swimming pool.

Surprisingly while Shafa was babywearing our toddler, the staff approached her and asked whether she would like to have any drink. And below picture was the beverage she took for Shafa. That gesture was just too sweet, thank you!

Makan Kitchen at DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Penang really has one of the most amazing choices of breakfast buffet. Here’s what we thought!

They have wide ranges of breads, cakes, fruits and muffins (surprisingly, our son’s favourite was their fruit cake).

We love the fact that they have quite a range of pastries available, especially Yusof’s favourite chocolate crossaints!

There’s a wide choice of Malaysian food as well. Shafa’s mom & Yusof chose the Nasi Lemak with Sambal Ikan Bilis, Rendang Ayam & Omelette.

Of course, the first thing Shafa will have at any breakfast buffet is their cereals, it has been her favourite breakfast since she was a kid. Oh boy, you should’ve seen the excitement on her face when she saw the ranges of cereals available – even the rare ones such as the Fruit Loop and All Bran!

Egg lover? You can request Omelette, Over Easy, Sunny Side Up, Poach Egg, Half Boil & Hard Boil at their Egg Counter.

Noodles & Roti Canai are available too! Now that’s a complete Malaysian food.

And now we move on to our dinner experience here. Watch the above video, recorded live on Facebook, for a brief explanation about Sharing Is Caring promotion at Makan Kitchen in DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Penang. They were big portions, truly meant to be shared!

Sharing Is Caring promotion offers a sharing portion of the Malaysian Favourites menu. And for that, we chose:
1. Laksa Penang

2. Indian Butter Chicken

3. Hainanese Chicken Rice

4. Rendang Tulang Rusuk

Truly 1 Malaysia food! And they all tasted lovely! As you can see, each of us had our own dish, including our toddler (his was the chicken rice). And guess what? Our toddler ate most of his portion (and that’s BIG portion)! Now that should give you an idea on the level of tastiness.

What’s your thoughts on the food for breakfast and dinner here? Would love to hear from you!

Stay tuned to the Part 3 of the resort review – which we will cover the Kids Club, famous attraction and swimming pools!
